Museums & Architecture
Graaff-Reinet is home to more national monuments than any other town or city in South Africa. The most known landmark is the “Groot Kerk” located in the Main Street.
There are a number of museums such as the Reinet House, the Military History the Old Library all of them worth visiting.
Camdeboo National Park
Located just outside Graaff Reinet is the Camdeboo National Park, Best known for the Valley of Desolation it is also a bird watchers paradise and also include the Nqweba Dam, which covers over 1000 hectares. The area around the dam is populated by a range of plains game such as Buffalo, Eland, Black Wildebeest, Kudu Springbok and smaller animal species.
Nieu Bethesda
Nieu Bethesda is located 53 km from Graaff Reinet and is a popular visitor day trip destination.
Best known for the Owl House it is also home to numerous artists and offers excellent places to eat.
There are also numerous fossil sites providing a glimpse into the past.
The picturesque village and the environment is well worth a visit.
